Corporate Social Responsibility

Small changes making a big impact

Supporting sustainable practices across our business

How we behave as a business matters to the world around us.  We understand the important role we have on society, the environment and the economy, and we’re committed to making responsible changes, for ourselves and our clients, to make a real difference.

We believe that business success goes hand in hand with positive environmental and social impact and our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility reflects our dedication to creating a more sustainable future for us all.

How we’re making a difference

As a business focused on packaging, we have a crucial role in supporting the companies we work with to reduce their reliance on plastic and make the switch to more sustainable, recyclable packaging.  But we’re also continuously looking at our own ways of working to minimise our impact on the environment.  From using recycled and recyclable materials in our products to minimising packaging waste, we make sure our own processes reflect those we recommend to our customers.

Part of this journey is also developing and bringing innovation to processes to cut waste and the products we take to market are at the forefront when it comes to greener practices.

Our recycling rates

To make the most of precious resources, we recycle and reuse as much as possible. Below is an example of what we recycle each year. (These figures cover the year from April 2021 to March 2022.)

We are proud of our status as a carbon neutral business, as verified by Carbon Neutral Britain. To maintain this important accolade, we continue to work closely with the Woodland Trust to rigorously monitor and offset our carbon emissions.

On top of this, we are also able to provide a number of our products on a carbon neutral basis, with full certification. Our Carbon Neutral Purchasing Programme is supported by Carbon Neutral Britain for products such as pallet wrap and certain protective packaging. This is offered alongside with a three-step programme of Plastic Removal, Plastic Reduction and Offset on what remains when steps one and two have been exhausted.

Supporting The Grace Trust

Integral to our people-focused culture is doing what we say we will.  That’s why we continue to demonstrate our commitment to being a responsible corporate citizen by making substantial donations to The Grace Trust.

As a grant-making charity, The Grace Trust oversees grants to a wide range of charitable causes that have been awarded funds following a comprehensive and stringent selection procedure. Run entirely voluntarily, we believe it is a worthwhile way to ensure we are making a real difference to those who need it.

We support over 500 national and local life-saving charities such as the Air Ambulance.

Our partnership with the Big Blue Ocean Clean-Up

We joined forces with the Big Blue Ocean Clean Up to help protect our nation’s coastline. We’re located just a few short miles from the beach so this is really personal and very important to us.

Big Blue Ocean Cleanup is an ocean conservation non-profit working across the globe. We sponsor our own unique stretch of coastline and participate in local beach cleans. We’re committed to protecting the environment not just in our back yard, but at every touch throughout our supply chain.

Safeguarding all our futures

“Being able to reduce our own environmental impact and that of our customers through innovative product solutions is important to the whole team at Acopia. We understand the need for all of us to do more and we constantly review our processes and practices looking for opportunities to improve on what we’re already doing. As a family business and looking to the future when my own children join the team – I want to be proud of our own contributions that help to protect the environment for all our children.”

Russell Lynes, Managing Director
